PerruchotOn 11th March 1804, vintner Martin Prieur’s two sons, Claude and Jean, left their native Burgundian village of Change to buy an estate in Santenay known as Chateau Perruchot. The property then included vineyards extending approximately 22 acres.
In 1955, the marriage of Guy Prieur of Santenay to Elisabeth Brunet of Meursault gave new life to the enlarged estate, now covering more than 50 acres, but today Chateau Perruchot is run by Madame Dominique Uny-Prieur and her son, Guillaume, who own vineyards in Chassagne-Montrachet, Meursault, Volnay, Pommard and Beaune, as well as Santenay itself.
Chateau Perruchot production extends from simple Bourgogne Blancs and Rouges through wines from the premier areas of the Cote de Beaune to Batard-Montrachet Grand Cru, one of the world’s truly great wines, dry and white, yet succulent, golden and flower-scented.
All of Chateau Perruchot’s grapes are gathered by hand and its wines mature in oak barrels which lie in cellars which date back to the 15th century.
