The Larmandier family have been involved with farming grapes since well before the French Revolution. They entered the champagne business in 1900 and today Elizabeth Larmandier-Bernier and her Pierre run the domaine, lavishing on his vineyards and wine-making enormous care and attention, which results in a range of deliciously creamy and crisp Champagnes. If you are looking for wonderfully stylish Champagnes made with tremendous care only from Grand Cru and Premier Cru grapes, Larmandier-Bernier wines are certain to impress enormously. The vineyard of some 36 acres is situated in the Cote de Blancs; in Vertus rated Premier Cru and in Cramant, Chouilly, Oger and Avise all rated Grand Cru with 88% Chardonnay and 12% Pinot Noir. The average age of vines is 33 years and the whole vineyard is cultivated by traditional techniques which respect the terroir: no artificial fertilisers are used. Yields are restricted to ensure excellent quality and picking is by hand. After dégorgement, finished Champagnes are rested before sale for a period of three months.
