In reality, this is declassified Meursault. It comes from young vines which Bernard Millot feels do not provide the quality of juice to bear the hallowed Meursault label. However, this is a delicious wine with style and great elegance. Because it is a much better wine than many ?village? Meursaults, it represents excellent value. Years 2003&2004.

The Batard-Montrachet vineyard straddles the boundary between the communes of Chassagne- Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet. Along with Chevalier Montrachet and Le Montrachet, Batard-Montrachet wines are much sought after. This is an excellent ?top-drawer? wine, with an almost unbelievable concentration of the qualities of white Burgundy. It has more scent, a brighter gold colour, a longer flavour, more succulence and yet more definition: everything about it is intensified ? a truly great wine. Very, very limited production. Year 2002.
